Soul at Home features the history and the music of The Dramatics, The Stylistics, and The Blue Notes. See them perform all their classic soul jams. This closing concert for HARLEM WEEK and the Harlem Music Festival is also a fundraiser for the “Support Harlem Now” campaign, providing services for Harlem’s senior citizens, food banks, the homeless, arts & cultural not-for-profits, local small businesses, and families.

HARLEM DAY is how HARLEM WEEK began in 1974. It is now the culminating event of the HARLEM WEEK Festival and our biggest day! For decades, HARLEM DAY has seen international recording artists, actors, sports figures, and leaders take the stage.

This year, HARLEM DAY features an artist to an artist talk with Doug E. Fresh and a surprise artist! Another HARLEM DAY highlight is The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s presentation of “Chamber Music of the Harlem Renaissance” by-era composers Duke Ellington and Harold T. Burleigh. Clarinetist David Shifrin and pianist Gloria Chien perform Ellington's “Clarinet Lament” (arranged by David Schiff). Violinist Chad Hoopes and pianist and Co-Artistic Director Wu Han perform Burleigh's “Southland Sketches.”

Apollo Teen Takeover is annually produced by the Apollo Young Producers, a collective of alumni from the Apollo Theater Academy who create and develop events to connect young artists to the Apollo Theater and provide a creative space for collaboration. Young voices have a great impact on the world and they often lead the charge in changing it for the better. Dear Future... is a celebration of youth voice and vision via art, song, and dance as we work to realize a greater future, together.

In 2008, nine-time GRAMMY Award winner Wynton Marsalis was commissioned to write a piece commemorating the 200th anniversary of Harlem's Abyssinian Baptist Church. The result was a sacred celebration: a sweeping composition for a big band and a 70-piece gospel choir. See a part of The Abyssinian Mass featuring The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the Chorale Le Chateau, conducted by Damien Sneed.

By way of pedigree and design, Marc Cary stands apart as one of New York’s best jazz pianists. The player-composer and improviser graduated from the renowned Duke Ellington School For The Arts, the professional spawning ground for Dave Chappelle, Wallace Roney, Denyce Graves, and Meshell Ndegeocello, whom Cary jammed within the school's orchestra. He continues to jam regularly and you have the opportunity to watch one of his jam sessions from Harlem’s legendary Minton’s Playhouse.

Shake up your mid-week happy hour and hit the virtual dance floor with the Apollo Music Café’s very own DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry as he spins your favorite mix of house, hip-hop, and R&B. The Apollo Theater’s Apollo Music Café series showcases independent and emerging artists across a myriad of genres.

This will be a virtual discussion to share career opportunities on Broadway, particularly for people of color, in an effort to provide more diversity on the Great White Way. This discussion will be led by leadership in this field covering topics including company managers, house management, advertising, digital marketing, scene design, and public relations. In previous years, this concert was part of an all-day Jazzmobile Block Party celebrating the life of Louis “Pops” Armstrong. This year, the concert was recorded in the garden at the former home of Louis and Lucille Armstrong and includes a tour of Louis’ den. Paying musical tribute to Pops’ legacy is NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Owens and his Quartet.

Hitmaker Nat Adderley Jr. wrote &/or arranged Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Natalie Cole, Johnny Gill, and numerous other greats. The chart-topping Alyson Williams is an immensely talented artist who can sing classic soul ballads, jazz standards and Broadway show-tunes with the greatest of ease. In celebration of HARLEM WEEK and the Harlem Music Festival, Nat and Alyson come together to perform a special tribute to the late, great Phyllis Hyman.

“Girl from the North Country,” featuring music written by Bob Dylan, was the last show to open on Broadway before all NYC theaters closed due to COVID-19. This exclusive performance features a song written by Bob Dylan while he lived in Harlem!
